An Unexpected Visitor

4 days ago, yes, sorry, I was really busy with assignments and only had time to write a post now. My apologies. Anyways back to business, 4 days ago we were in for a surprise as we were visited by renowned artist from Poland, Mr. Kriz Cruz along with his lovely wife, Mrs. Natalia.

Let's talk a bit about Mr. Kriz Cruz shall we?

Mr. Kriz Cruz, full name Krzysztof Izdebski-Cruz, born May 8, 1966, is a famous Polish artist famous for his metalpoint art technique. This revolutionary technique is made using metal such as gold, silver, iron etc scratched like pencils on a piece of paper coated with chemistry mumbo-jumbo (sorry too many fancy words to keep up).

Drawn with pencil? Nope, with metal!

But what really blew us away is his extraordinary attention to details. His passion in pastels and oil paintings really too real to be a painting. Like seriously, many will unmistakably think his paintings are real photographs. Thats how good he is. During his workshop, we learn many essential tips during the making of pastel paintings. I never knew we were suppose to paint from left to right if we are right-handed, and vice versa. No wonder so many of my paintings were smudged and destroyed in the process.

In fact we were so lucky Mr. Kriz Cruz is having his exhibition with his real artworks in our very own CoDA gallery at Taylor's University Lakeside Campus. It was a wonderful opportunity to see this artwork in real life, which is much better than just seeing it on a computer screen.

Pretty much most of his work is seriously, like dead meat serious, mind-blowing. Here are a few shots I took with my sneaky-cam.

It was wonderful experience getting to know Mr. Kriz Cruz and Mrs. Natalia with their inspiring artworks and workshop. I hope The Design School can invite more aspiring artists such as them to give more talks in the future to inspire us to become great artists.
